Winds of Change: Welcoming the Fall
Hello once again! It has been a couple of busy weeks here at Simplifi because we’ve been getting a few deliveries with new fabrics and prints. The arrival of new styles never gets old for us and it’s always good news. More fabrics, more options to choose from!
Today is the second day of Autumn. Colder winds and beautiful orange leaves will welcome us in the mornings. With the change of season we are all settling into our old routines. The kids are back in school, colder days call for comfy sweaters and without even noticing, we’re just a few months away from the end of the year. I know, it sounds too soon! But we’re actually just three months away from the last weeks of December. Three months, that will go by in a blink! Most of the year has gone by already and I can barely believe it. Don’t get me wrong, we’re very happy with how much we’ve grown and what we’ve accomplished since we started. But I wanted to take this moment to look ahead and dream big, for the three months that we still have in front of us.
It’s no secret that many times we don’t realize how close we are to the end of the year until mid December. It’s at this time that, with a bit of excitement, we count day by day, marking the calendar. It's also when we try to make time for all those things that we promised ourselves we’d do this 2016, and haven’t…..yet! I’m taking this opportunity to remind you, and myself, that it's never too late to dream big and go after the goals you want to accomplish.
That’s why we’re taking the time to stop for a second, look around and use the time ahead as an opportunity. I’m looking at the “To do list” that I made January 2016, and I’m crossing out what I’ve accomplished so far; that must be one of the most satisfying feelings ever! I’m also taking mental note of the other things that I’d like to complete or achieve before the end of the year. I haven’t crossed things like: making my house greener; I want to adopt more sustainable practices that will allow me to save energy and food in my house. I also want to make the effort to make more time for my personal projects. Like that sewing challenge that I’ve been meaning to start for a long time, but keep making up excuses to delay it. They’re always so fun, but I fail to make enough time for myself and my hobbies sometimes. It’s not easy, running your own business, while also taking care of your family, but I love every bit of it! My main goal for this three months is to find balance. Easier said than done! There’s a pile of books in my living room that keeps growing and I should take care of that. And I know I can.
I hope you start this new season with a renewed perspective of the time we have ahead and enjoy it to the fullest! Share with us what goals or plans you’ve set for yourself for the three months to come! We’d love to hear from you and share your adventures.
