The Edie Top Pattern - Merchant & Mills

$25.00 CAD
Size:
Variant:

The balloon sleeves of this simple top are the only detail that it requires to stand out. Less is more. The full sleeves are gathered with a tie which is threaded through a buttonhole, alternatively you can omit this buttonhole and insert elastic instead. The Edie has a dropped shoulder, you could also extend the top into a dress – we found that the sleeves looked better a little shorter for a dress version. Depending on the length you require we’d suggest adding about 60cm.

All seam allowances are 1.5cm unless otherwise stated.

Skill level – intermediate. This is a paper pattern that includes sizes UK 6 – 18.

We would suggest using the following fabrics – lighter weight woven fabrics, linen and linen blends, poplin, hemp and hemp blends, cotton chambray, Indian handweaves and block prints, tencel and tencel blends. The more structured the fabric the more sculptural your top will look.

For more fabric suggestions click on the ‘Suitable Fabrics’ tab.

Our samples –

Carolyn wears the Edie Dress in ‘Structure’ which is a hemp/cotton blend.

Brenda wears the Edie Top in ‘Hoshi’ which is an Indian cotton.

You will need:
1 x Matching thread
